The Bahnhof Frankfurt- Griesheim is a major operating station for the rail transport in Frankfurt am Main and a passenger station. Here begins, about five kilometers west of the reception building, the large and up to 600 meter wide track ahead of the Frankfurt central station.
General
The station was established in 1877 by the Hessian Ludwig Railway on the Main -Lahn -Bahn in the north of the town center Griesheim. In 1968, the still existing station building. Operating
Griesheim is located on the Route number 627 ( Main -Lahn -Bahn ). The regional and long distance traffic uses the parallel Taunus Railway ( KBS 645.1 ), but in the case of malfunctions can be redirected over the Griesheim route. Both outgoing from the main train lines meet in Frankfurt-Höchst station together again.
In Griesheim itself also was the depot of the S- Bahn Rhein -Main with Wagenhallen, car washes and repair shops. After this moved into the former post station, the depot Griesheim is responsible for the maintenance of ICE and ICE 3M T.

The infrastructure is controlled from the control center Frankfurt. The old Griesheim interlocking pushbuttons on track 1 is now used as an operating room.
