The Bahnhof Frankfurt- Sindlingen is a suburban railway station in the network of S- Bahn Rhein -Main. According to railway construction and operation order is not a train station, but a breakpoint.
Location
The S-Bahn station is located in the heart of Frankfurt city district Sindlingen. The main street of the neighborhood, the Sindlinger way street, meets here on the roadbed of the Taunus Railway. The breakpoint also forms the southern end of the Richard Weidlich Square. At the northern platform is the house Sindlingen that serves the district as a community center and library.
History
In the 19th century, the central and northern part Are Lingens was virtually undeveloped. The rural village had almost 750 inhabitants. Built in 1839 railway line Frankfurt - Hattersheim led through this area and there crossed the road to Zeilsheim ( Today Are Linger -way street ). With the progressive industrialization in particular by Hoechst AG, it came in Sindlingen and the surrounding villages to a considerable population growth. At the Taunus Railway as well as the built later, northern Main -Lahn -Bahn stops should arise, first of which only the southern was built.
1893 breakpoint Are Lingen -Zeilsheim was opened at the railroad crossing today Are Linger -way street. The station building was in 1968 replaced by a new one, which, however, on February 29, 1984 completely burned after an explosion. 1978, the S-Bahn operation was introduced throughout the Frankfurt Transport Association and from the line R1 was the S1. A major change came in 1980, when the railroad crossing was converted into an underpass.
2007 500 meters was further north, also on the Sindlinger way street, at Main -Lahn -Bahn, opened the long-planned station Zeilsheim.
Construction
The architecture of the station is similar to the train station, Frankfurt -Nied. In contrast, however, are the northern and southern sides of the platform on various road Sindlinger way street. Access to the platforms is level possible, while crossing the railway systems is made possible by a separate pedestrian underpass parallel to the road underpass. The street changes done by two parallel railway bridge pedestrian walkways. In addition to the central entrances on the street side the platforms still have additional exterior entrances to the park - and-ride parking.
Platforms are, after the last station building was destroyed in 1984, made very sober. Only so-called DB - Pros offer waiting passengers a shelter.
Use
The only S-Bahn line that stops at the breakpoint Frankfurt- Sindlingen, the S1 direction Rödermark - Ober Roden and Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof in 15/30/60-Minuten-Takt. He is still very busy at rush hour Being close to the West Gate of the Höchst Industrial Park and the International School.
At the station also keeps the bus line 54 direction Bahnhof Frankfurt- Griesheim or Are Linger Cemetery and the bus line 57 towards settlement Taunus views.
Are Lingen is at the Deutsche Bahn railway station, category 5 ( mass transit system stop).
