Frankfurter Kantorei

The Frankfurter Kantorei is a choir which was founded in 1945 by Kurt Thomas in Frankfurt am Main. He was succeeded in 1969 Helmuth Rilling, who used the chorus part, for his complete recording of Bach cantatas. From 1982 to 1997, Wolfgang Schäfer artistic director of the Frankfurter Kantorei. Today Winfried Toll conducts the choir. Concert tours abroad and CD recordings are an integral part of the choir activity. The choir was awarded in 2000 with the Binding Culture Award.
