Frankie Paul

Frankie Paul (actually: Paul Blake, born 19 October 1965 Kingston, Jamaica ) is a Jamaican dancehall musician. He has been producing for over 15 years dancehall music.

Story of the artist

Paul Blake was blind at birth, through a surgery at the age of 8 years, his eyesight was partially produced in one eye again. At the age of 3 years, he began to sing. His family and friends encouraged him here because he had a good voice. In 1976 Frankie Paul was at the Salvation Army School for the blind, when one morning told the teacher, now I'm a special guest to visit. In this guest it was Stevie Wonder, one of the idols of Frankie Paul. The visit by Stevie Wonder was, according to Frankie Paul " one of the most inspiring moments of my life ."

The next big moment in the life of the artist came one year after leaving school. He sang in the street and was financed as his livelihood, when a man named Stucko invited him to meet the next day with him. He took him to the High Times Music and in 1980 he Frankie Paul's first studio recordings African Princess, Babylon Man and Give The Youth A Chance recorded. At this time, Frankie Paul was just 15 years old. In 1983, he appeared on two albums of the Channel One Showdown series, among other things, with Sugar Minott and Little John. Among the Junjo Lawes -produced title was Worries in the Dance, with the Frankie Paul was oriented towards dancehall and with whom he landed his first major hit. He has worked throughout his career already for virtually every producer and studio in Jamaica and is known to include several albums per year. Much of his recent albums containing covers of reggae classics and American R & B material. Overall, he has released more than 48 albums. Among his notable works include the popular songs Sara and Worries in the Dance. He tours repeatedly over the years successfully alone or with other known artists from the Dance Hall region, and has performed at major reggae festivals such as Summerjam, the Chiemsee Reggae Summer and many others.

Frankie Paul is the father of 12 children, 7 of which are adopted. He pleaded to have taken drugs in the 80s, but declared to be clean since 1988. Frankie Paul divides his time between London, New York and Serekunda - Dippa Kunda. He speaks now also Wolof and intends mainly to live in Gambia, as there appears to him more peaceful than in Jamaica. He has already given in Gambia along with Glen Washington a concert at the Independence Stadium in Bakau as support for unknown reggae artist, it was a great event there.
