Franklin County (Nebraska)
Franklin County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Franklin, named after Benjamin Franklin.
Geography
The County is located in southern Nebraska, adjacent to the state of Kansas and has an area of 1492 square kilometers without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Kearney County, Webster County, Harlan County and Phelps County.
History
Franklin County was formed in 1867. It was named after Benjamin Franklin.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Franklin County, 3,574 people in 1,485 households and 1,021 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 99.24 percent White, 0.28 percent Native American, 0.06 percent Asian, and 0.08 percent from other races; 0.34 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.64 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,485 households out of which 28.6 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.4 percent were married couples living together, 6.0 percent were single mothers, 31.2 percent were non-families, 29.2 percent of all households and 16.0 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.87.
Based on the county the population was spread from 24.5 percent population under 18 years, 4.5 percent between 18 and 24 years, 23.6 percent between 25 and 44 years, 23.5 percent between 45 and 64 years and 23.9 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.0 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 29,304, and the median income for a family was $ 34,958. Males have a median income of $ 26,192, women $ 18,214.
