Franklin County (Tennessee)

Franklin County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Winchester.

Geography

The County is located in southern Tennessee, bordering Alabama and has an area of ​​1491 square kilometers, of which 55 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Coffee County, Grundy County, Marion County, Jackson County ( Alabama), Lincoln County and Moore County.

History

Franklin County was formed on December 3, 1807 from parts of Bedford County and Warren County. It was named after Benjamin Franklin, a founding father and signer of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.
