Franklin County (Washington)
Franklin County is a county located in the state of Washington of the United States. It has 49 347 inhabitants. The the county seat ( county seat ) is located in Pasco.
Geography
The county has an area of 3277 square kilometers; of which 59 square kilometers (1.81 percent) of water.
History
The Franklin County was formed on November 28, 1883 from parts of Whitman County. It was named after Benjamin Franklin, a publisher, statesman, writer, scientist, inventor, natural philosopher and Freemason. He is also regarded as one of the founding fathers of the United States.

According to the census of 2000, there were 49 347 people in the county. There were 1,484 households and 11,604 families. The population density was 15 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 61.91 % White, 2.49 % African American, 0.73 % Native American, 1.62 % Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander residents from the and 28.98 % from other races groups; 4.14% were descended from two or more races. 46.67 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 14,840 households out of which 45.00 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.80 % were married couples living together, 11.40 % had a female householder with no husband. 21.80% were non-families. 17.80% of all households and 7.30 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.26 and the average family size was 3.67 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 34.60 % under the age of 18, 10.90 % from 18 to 24, 28.10 % from 25 to 44 years, 17.90% between 45 and 64 years and 8.50% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 109.10 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.60 males.
The median income for a household was $ 38,991, and the median income for a family was $ 41,967. Males had a median income of $ 32,209, women $ 24,533. The per capita income was $ 15,459. 19.20 % of the population and 15.50% of families are below the poverty line. 26.00% of those under age 18 and 7.70 % were 65 years or older.
