Franklin Mountains (Northwest Territories)

The Franklin Mountains are a mountain range in the Northwest Territories in Canada.

The Franklin Mountains extend some 500 kilometers in north-south direction on the right bank of the Mackenzie River. The highest point is 1570 m high Mount Cap (also called Cap Mountain ) in the south of the mountains. The second highest mountain is located in the north of the Franklin Mountains Mount Clark with 1463 m.

They are named after John Franklin, who had almost starved in the range of mountains on the return from his expedition from 1819 to 1822.
