Franklin Parish, Louisiana

The Franklin Parish (French: Paroisse de Franklin ) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In the census in 2010, the Parish had 20 767 inhabitants and a population density of 12.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Winnsboro, named after Walter Winn, a lawyer.

History

The Franklin Parish was formed in 1843 from parts of Carroll Parish, Catahoula Parish, Madison Parish and Ouachita Parish. It was named after Benjamin Franklin.
