František Svoboda

František Svoboda ( born July 5, 1905 in Vienna, † July 6, 1948 ) was a Czech football player. With Czechoslovakia, he was runner-up in 1934.

Club career

Svoboda was born in 1926 to Slavia Prague. The powerful center-forward was known for his powerful shot. With Slavia Svoboda was eight times national champion. In the 1934/35 season he was top scorer with 27 goals.

In the first league Svoboda scored a total of 101 goals for Slavia and is therefore a member of the club ligových kanonýrů.

1930 there was a change affair Svoboda. He declined to extend from his contract and did not go on for Slavia. A consultant, he was writing, to switch to Sparta Prague and it should collect 100,000 crowns. However, the consultant was also insure to receive compensation of 50,000 crowns, should not come into the transfer. As these agreements came to the public, Svoboda recanted the change and stayed with Slavia. The compensation he had not paid after much back and forth.

National

In the Czechoslovak national Svoboda played 43 times, but he scored 22 goals. He is one of the top scorers of Czechoslovakia.

He made his debut on June 6, 1926 in the 1-2 defeat against Hungary in Budapest.

At the World Championships in 1934, he was part of the Czechoslovak root formation. He made three games, the winning quarter-final against Switzerland, he scored a goal.

The last game for the Czechoslovak Svoboda denied on 15 May 1937 his team defeated Scotland with 1:3.
