Franz Bernreiter

Franz Bernreiter ( born February 13, 1954 in Bärnzell ) is a former German biathlete and currently biathlon coach.

Franz Bernreiter of WSV Rabenstein is one of the most successful West German biathletes of the first half of the 1980s. He participated in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, where she won together with Hans Estner, Peter Angerer and Gerhard Winkler of the German season as first runner behind the teams of the USSR and the GDR the bronze medal. In the Biathlon World Championships 1981 in Lahti Bernreiter could win as the final runner of the season of the FRG the silver medal behind the GDR season and before the team from the Soviet Union, together with Angerer, Andreas Schweiger and Fritz Fischer. In 1984 he won the German championship title over 20 kilometers. After his playing career Bernreiter became a coach and not a few well-known supervised German biathletes. Since the mid- 2000s he is a national coaching staff in Germany and is responsible for the C- squad of men. He also served as team leader of the German biathletes and cross-country skiers at the Junior World Championships 2009 in Canmore.
