Franz Brungs

Franz " gold head " Brungs ( born December 4, 1936 in Honnef ) is a former German football player and coach.

Career

Franz Brungs began playing football at the FV Bad Honnef. After he played 1958-1960 for the 1st FC Cologne, he had his first success in the years as a center forward at Borussia Moenchengladbach with whom he won the DFB Cup final on October 5, 1960 before the start of the Bundesliga in 1963. For Borussia it was used 88 times in the Oberliga West. He scored 36 goals in that time.

In the summer of 1963, he moved for the premiere season of the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund, with whom he was in 1965 DFB Cup winner ( although he did not play in the finals ). For Dortmund he played 54 appearances in the Bundesliga where he scored 23 goals. In 1965 he was transferred for a fee of 75,000 Mark 1 FC Nuremberg, with whom he became German champion in 1968. For the club, he scored in 97 games in the Bundesliga 50 goals. After he was retired by then- coach Max Merkel at the club, Brungs was active 1968-1971 nor for Hertha BSC. There he came in 84 Bundesliga games for use in which he scored 24 goals. He scored a total of 235 league games in 97 matches. In the 1971/72 season he again played for the club in the Regionalliga Süd.

In connection with the Bundesliga scandal of the players also Hertha BSC participated Brungs 1972 banned for two years. He was pardoned in 1973. Nevertheless, he ended his playing career.

His greatest moment in the Bundesliga he had when he scored five goals against Sepp Maier in the 7:3 victory of the 1st FC Nuremberg against Bayern Munich on December 2, 1967.

After his playing career, he worked at various clubs as a coach before this career ended in 1995, also to care more about the business operated by lottery to be able to.
