Franz, Count of Meran

Franz Ludwig Johann Baptist Graf von Meran, Freiherr von Brandhofen ( born March 11, 1839 in Vienna, † March 27, 1891 in Opatija ) was an Austrian aristocrat and progenitor of the Habsburgs entstamme ends Counts of Meran.

Life

Franz was the only son of Archduke Johann from his morganatic marriage with Anna Plochl that was only imposed after the marriage to Baroness von Brandhofen (1834 ), 1850 to the Countess of Meran. Franz befell this ranking increase on December 30, 1845. 1861 he was appointed to a lifelong member of the manor. In 1862 he took over the management of left behind by his father, enterprises and institutions.

Marriage and descendants

He was married to Theresa, Countess of Lamberg (1836-1913) (∞ 1862), with whom he had seven children together.
