Franz Held

Franz Held ( born May 6, 1948 in Passau ) is a former rower and current sports scientists.

Professional career

He studied in the early 1970s sports and economics at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich for the teaching profession. After the clerkship 1975-1977 Held worked since 1977 as a teacher of special duties at the Technical University of Munich. He received his doctorate at the German Sport University Cologne Doctor of Sports Sciences 1993; the topic of his dissertation was research on the isokinetic rowing ergometer to determine leistungsdiagonstischer important measurement parameters.

Since 1994 he worked as an academic director at the Technical University of Munich, including Director of Physical Education, as Representative of the President for Academic Affairs of sport, and from 1999 to 2005 as Dean of Students.

Franz hero was active in his time in Munich on many committees. So as a member of the founding committee of the Faculty of Sport Sciences as dean or as a member of the Commission on Education in the German Ski Instructors Association.

The former active power rower has worked at the University of Passau since the winter semester 2006/2007; on 23 October 2006, the University Board appointed him head of the sports center.

Sporting career

Hero rowed for the RV Passau, Passau with the eight he won in 1967 and 1969, second place at the German Championships in 1968 reached the boat to third place. In 1968, he was also, together with Günther Karl second in the coxless pairs. This two also launched at the 1968 Olympic Games, finishing twelfth place there. 1969 won Franz hero as a member of the German rowing eight bronze at the European Championships. After a fourth place finish with the eighth at the World Rowing Championships in 1970 moved hero in the coxless four. At the European Championships in 1971, he won the bronze medal together with Wolfgang Plottke, Peter Funnekötter and Joachim Ehrig. Also the bronze medal won these four rowers at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
