Franz Höbling

Franz Höbling ( born September 9, 1886 in Vienna, Austria - Hungary, † February 14, 1965 in Vienna, Austria ) was a stage and silent film actor.

Life

The son of a postman was first also in the profession of his father's works. He made ​​his first acting tests at the age of 17 years in Znojmo. From 1904 to 1906 he graduated from the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. He then went to the New Schauspielhaus in Berlin, 1910 to the Theater in der Josefstadt and was from 1911 over 50 years ( until his death ), member of the ensemble of the Vienna Burgtheater. He was awarded the title of court actors.

Höbling was a performer youthful heroes, lovers and complex characters in his repertoire were found Karl Moor, Holofernes, Egmont, Orestes, Don Juan, Iago and Mephistopheles. He also sang several times operatic roles at the State Opera and Volksoper in Vienna. His film career lasted only from 1915 to 1923, the silent film star Magda Sonja often was his co-star.

Höbling was also active as a poet and was a member of the Neues Wiener Journal.

His honorary dedicated tomb is located on the Ottakringerstraße Cemetery ( Group J, Number 57) in Vienna.
