Franz-Josef Kemper

Franz -Josef Kemper ( born September 30, 1945 in Hopsten, Kreis Steinfurt ) is a former German track and field athlete, Olympic athletes and officials. He achieved his greatest success as a middle-distance runner in the 1960s and 1970s.

Kemper is married to Sylvia Schenk.

Sports career

In his time as an active athlete (1964-1973) Kemper was five times German champion over 800 meters (1965, 1966, 1967, 1970 and 1971). Overall, he won eleven titles at German Championships in the hall, in the relay and the Cross.

In 1966 he scored more than 800 meters a new European record, over 1000 meters and the 4 × 800 meter relay team each set a world record.

He participated in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and in Munich in 1972. In 1972 he finished fourth in the 800 -meter run.

Kemper was for the SC Preußen 06 eV Münster ( Münster LG ratio ) is active. He had a competition weight of 67 kg at a height of 1.79 m.

1967 Kemper was honored with the Silver Laurel Leaf.

Career

Kemper studied at the University of Münster ( German and sports) and at the Technical University of Darmstadt (sociology). At the TH Darmstadt, he received his doctorate in 1980 for Dr. phil. Kemper ( SPD) officer for fundamental issues of promotion of sports and leisure policy in the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs. After the change of government also Kemper joined the SPD-led Rhineland- Palatinate.

Since 2000, Kemper was Deputy Director and Head of Department of Sport and volunteering at the Ministry of the Interior and Sport in Rhineland- Palatinate. In March 2003, he was appointed by the Council of Ministers of the State of the State Commissioner for the Football World Cup 2006.

Since the beginning of 2011, Kemper Professor at the private university accadis Bad Homburg. The certificate of appointment of the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art, he received the President of the University Werner Meissner. Kemper lectures in the program International Sports Management.

Honorary Appointments

  • From 1989 to 1993 Kemper served on the board of the German Athletics Federation ( DLV).
  • From 1989 to 1998 he was a member of the Federal Executive amateur sports in the German Sports Federation (DSB ).
  • From 1995 to 1998 he was Chairman of the Working Group " Sport and Health" of the DSB.
