Franz Karasek

Franz Karasek ( born April 22, 1924 in Vienna, † March 10, 1986 ) was an Austrian politician (ÖVP ) and 1970-1979 Member of Parliament.

Karasek attended after primary school, a secondary school and put 1942, the Matura. He studied international law in Paris and also studied at the University of Vienna. His professional career began at the Federal Chancellery in the Department of Foreign Affairs. He was secretary of the Chancellor Leopold Figl and Julius Raab and 1956 Counsellor in Paris. In 1960 he moved to Moscow as Counselor, 1964, he was Head of Cabinet of Josef Klaus. In 1966 he became head of the section in the Ministry of Education.

Karasek occurred in 1951, the ÖVP and worked with in various party-affiliated organizations. He was president of the Cultural Commission and the General Rapporteur of the Political Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council and represented the ÖVP of 31 March 1970 to October 2, 1979 at the National Council. After that he worked from 1979 to 1984 as Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Karasek was a member of the Catholic fraternity KAV since 1947 Norica Wien.
