After a brief stay at the University for Applied Arts with Prof. Leinfellner, Rosei working again on its own. Some sculptures in concrete casting technique arise. From 1970 he works exclusively in stone (marble, limestone, sandstone), next to employment with the drawing ( pencil, charcoal, water colors). 1985 start working on a large mold for a bronze casting. Since then arise again and again also bronze sculptures. In numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including a comprehensive retrospective at the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna, the works of Franz Rosei for over 30 years are shown.

His central theme is - as Franz Rosei - " the view of this life, the world and the desire, the result of this consideration, investigation, put into form."

Due to its individual approach to the sculptural language, Franz Rosei took in the early 1980s a significant role in the art scene and is today one of the most important sculptors of Austria.
