It examines primarily the time of the rise of National Socialism before the seizure of power and the question: "How did it come so far," In his habilitation thesis, he concludes: " The partial collaboration ' with respectively the partial assimilation ' of State and demokratiebejahenden parties towards political movements that reject parliamentary democracy or a state and fight, always goes out to the detriment of the State or of democracy. This is an always applicable lesson from history, not least for recent developments in various European countries. " There is" in the history of turning points at which influence the political leaders fatefully with their decision for one of several ways for further development. At such turning points - and that is always current reference - all democratic forces to subordinate their partisan self-interests to the good of the state and the safeguarding of democracy. "
