As the stadium is stehplatz oriented, 4,600 standing places and 1,200 seats are available. In go on sale despite the higher capacity is only 5,200 cards since it depends on many standing passengers to view disabilities.

Several times was the Franz- Siegel Halle venue for international matches of the German national ice hockey team. In 1994, the legendary friendly match between EHC Selects, a fan-chosen team of current and former players of the EHC, and a selection of players from the U.S. professional league NHL took place here. Wayne Gretzky and other big names played here before a packed house and defeated the EHC Selects 8:5.

In March 2009, the Badische Zeitung reported on a report which described the Franz- Siegel Halle as a restructuring case. Along with snow on the hall roof threatened in February 2009, the cancellation of a hockey - point second-division game. Given this situation, it was decided to ensure the structural and fire safety through rehabilitation measures for an estimated 2.6 million euros. Since the execution of the rehabilitation works are only to be seen as Provisiorum for five years - until the completion of a new building - the amount of costs is controversial. According to the club chefs Wolfgang Kunkler the roof of the hall is not listed, as is often claimed.

In February 2013, the Freiburg city council chose a new stadium for the ice in Freiburg. Location and exact design have yet to be decided. By July 2014, a proposed site are. In June 2014, the operating license for the hall is running out.
