Franz Teyber

Franz Teyber ( born August 25, 1758 in Vienna, † October 21, 1810 ) was an Austrian composer, organist and conductor.

Life and work

Franz Teyber, brother of Anton Teyber, got his initial training from his father Matthew Teyber (1711-1785), which violinist at the imperial Court orchestra in Vienna and was graduated with Georg Christoph Wagenseil. 1786-1788 he was conductor of the traveling theater company Schikaneder. 1788/89 he is to Karlsruhe in the service of the Margrave of Baden, 1791/93 in the Rhineland (Cologne), 1794/95 in Regensburg and Augsburg. 1796-1798 Franz Teyber was concertmaster in Bern. The end of 1798 he returned to Vienna, composed alternately with his brother Anton redoubts dances and stepped back with Schikaneder in cooperation. From 1801 music director of the Theater an der Wien, which on June 13 with the opera " Alexander" (music by Franz Teyber; Libretto: Emanuel Schikaneder ) in the same year was opened. From 1807 Teyber the Theater in der Leopoldstadt. Teyber, the one with as an organ virtuoso J. G. Albrechtsberger was compared, in 1809 organist of St. Stephen's in Vienna and on August 13, 1810 was also the kk Appointed court organist.

In 1894 in Vienna Penzing ( 14th district ) was named the Teybergasse after the family of musicians Teyber.
