Franz Volkmar Fritzsche

Franz Volkmar Fritzsche ( born January 26, 1806 Steinbach at Borna, † March 17, 1887 in Rostock ) was a German classical scholar. He was the son of Christian Friedrich Fritzsche ( 1776-1850 ).

Life

Raised in Dobrilugk he attended high school in Luckau. From 1824 he was collaborator at the Thomas School and also a lecturer at the University of Leipzig, doctorate and habilitation in 1825. In 1828 Franz Volkmar Fritzsche as professor of poetry and eloquence, was appointed to the University of Rostock, where he founded a seminary for classical philology, the he directed until 1882. His brothers Otto and Karl Friedrich August Fridolin Fritzsche were like his father theologians. Fritz Reuter mentioned him in the introductory chapter to " Olle Kamellen VII: De meckelnbörgschen Montecchi un Capuletti or De Reis ' close Konstantin Opel " (1868 )
