Franz von Vecsey

Franz von Vecsey ( born March 23, 1893 in Budapest, † April 5, 1935 in Rome) was a Hungarian violinist and composer.

Life

Jean Sibelius dedicated to the 12 -year-old child prodigy his Violin Concerto. Franz von Vecsey Jeno Hubay and studied with Joseph Joachim and was with Béla Bartók at the piano on concert tours. On the concert tour of the United States in 1903 Hermann Zilcher was his companion. He was whether his romantic virtuosity as the " leading violinists of his time" ( ... the leading virtuoso of the age ... ). Recordings of his own compositions Chanson triste (1913 ) or of Tartini's Devil's Trill Sonata prove his powers of expression. He died early at the age of 42 years with a botched medical operation.
