Frascati DOC

Frascati is a wine region for white wine in the province of Rome, part of the Italian region of Lazio. The zone with the status of a Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC ) (since 3 March 1966) has 1642 hectares of vineyards that lie on volcanic slopes in the area Campagna Romana and edited from about 2980 growers. It includes portions of the towns of Frascati, Grottaferrata and Monte Porzio Catone, as well as parts of the city of Rome and Montecompatri. It is a very old wine-growing region with an excellent reputation. In the city of Rome there was already in 1450 of documented 1,022 taverns, which were mainly supplied by wine growers from Frascati. Today he is one of the most famous Italian white wines worldwide.

The wine is blended from the Malvasia Bianca di Candia and Trebbiano Toscano ( 70-100 %), Greco Bianco and / or Malvasia del Lazio (up 30%).

The wine is available in the flavors " Secco " or " Asciutto " (dry ), " Amabile " ( Lieblich with a residual sugar content of 10-30 g / l). The Italian Ministry of Agriculture has awarded the varieties cannellino di Frascati Frascati Superiore and the award Denomination of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed ( DOCG) on 21 April 2011.
