Frascati

Frascati is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 21 104 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 21 km southeast of Rome. It is the seat of a bishopric suburbicarian.

Geography

Frascati is located in the Alban Hills and is one of the towns of the Castelli Romani. It is a member of the Comunità Montana dei Castelli Romani e Prenestini.

History

Since ancient times, here Roman patrician villas were built; Frascati was especially popular as a summer residence of the Romans. Nearby are the ruins of Roman villas city of Tusculum.
