Frassinoro

Frassinoro is a town with 1952 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Modena. She is a member of the Comunità Montana dell'Appennino Modena Ovest.

History

The monastery Frassinoro the Apennine pass della Foce Radici goes back to a donation of Beatrice of Lorraine, wife of Boniface of Canossa and mother of Matilda of Tuscany, from August 29, 1071. The monastery was richly furnished with furniture and marble from Carrara. In 1173 the abbey was conquered and 1210, the monastery was abandoned in 1261 waived the abbot to all worldly power. 1585 presents Pope Sixtus V. the rights and Administration of the Patrimony of the Quorum of the Maronites of Rome. Duke Francesco III. then passes them in 1771 to the Congregation of the Brothers of Charity in Modena.
