Fraunhofer (crater)

Fraunhofer is an impact crater on the southeastern edge of the lunar front side, just south of the crater Furnerius. The rim is moderately eroded, interrupted in the north-west of the craters Fraunhofer V. The crater interior is flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German optician and physicist Joseph von Fraunhofer.
