Frazey Ford ( born February 11, 1973) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and member of the folk trio "The Be Good Tanyas "

Life

Frazey Ford was born in Canada, where her parents emigrated early seventies to avoid conscription of the Father for the Vietnam War by the U.S. Army. Before the family had settled in the province Kootenays, she lived for several years in municipalities. As Ford had announced in an interview that she spent her childhood in a bohemian atmosphere full of " Poetry, Travel and Bob Dylan ." Ford began her musical career in the nineties, when she met her future band mates of "The Be Good Tanyas " Sam Parton and Trish Klein, Nelson. Soon discovered the three their common interest in the Old- Time Music and moved to East Vancouver, where she first tried together as a hobby musicians. While Parton and Small tended more towards traditional country and folk, Ford felt increasingly drawn to Soul

Solo career

When her tribe band had decided in 2008 to take a break, Ford dedicated the work on her solo career.

In 2010 the debut album " Obadiah " was released. The designation of the plate is to be understood as a reference to the second name of the musician. Musically, the publication is somewhere between folk, soft jazz and soul, with songs full of poetry, supported by their famous soulful voice, " which takes directly for themselves ." With sonic references to Al Green, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Ann Peebles, Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack, the singer tries to bridge the gap between folky sound of the seventies, with whom she grew up and always main theme of "The Bee Good Tanya " was to beat, and their different musical world, "which is soul and gospel "
