Fred Brathwaite

Fredrick Brathwaite (* November 24, 1972 in Ottawa, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender, who was from 2008 to 2012 at the Adler Mannheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga under contract.

Career

Brathwaite, whose parents are from Barbados, his professional career began in the 1989/90 season with the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League, where he stood up to and including the season 1991/92 on the ice. In addition, the links catcher completed this season, some games for the London Knights, who were also active in the OHL. In the 1992/93 season Brathwaite then ran on with the Detroit Junior Red Wings, before joining the Edmonton Oilers franchise in 1993/94.

There the Canadians completed two games for the then active in the American Hockey League Cape Breton Oilers, but he came into this season to 19 games for the NHL team the Oilers. In the 1995/96 season the goalkeeper completed turn games in the AHL for Cape Breton and in the NHL for the Edmonton Oilers before he finally ran aground between 1996 and 1998 for the Manitoba Moose of the International Hockey League. In the season 1998/99, Brathwaite first played for the Canadian national team before he decided a change to the Calgary Flames. There, the goalkeeper was able to finish with respectable 31 NHL games that season, in the season 1999/ 00 he then succeeded, except for two inserts at the Saint John Flames of the AHL, the breakthrough in the NHL. For the Calgary Flames of the Canadians completed 61 games, 2000/ 01 completed Brathwaite again 49 NHL games for Calgary, then moved on, however, to the St. Louis Blues, for which he only rarely in the highest North American professional league was on the ice. From 2008 to 2012 Fred Brathwaite was at the Adler Mannheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga under contract. End of February 2009, the goalie was chosen by the coaches and managers of the DEL clubs as well as by the journalists of Germany's hockey player of the year 2008/ 09. In addition, the journal Hockey News awarded him from the Goalkeeper of the Year 2008 /09. After his playing career Brathwaite was goalkeeping coach at the club from Mannheim.

Internationally

With the Canadian national team Fred Brathwaite contested the World Championships in 1999, 2000 and 2001.
