Fred Gaisberg

Fred Gaisberg (Frederick William Gaisberg, Frederick William Gaisberg ) ( born January 1, 1873 in Washington, DC, † September 2, 1951 ) was a musician, sound engineer and one of the earliest classical music producers for the gramophone.

He worked as a piano accompanist and manager for Emil Berliner.

Around the year 1898 he went to London and became the first engineer of the Gramophone Company. His recording of Enrico Caruso in Milan on April 11, 1902, a bestseller and won the next year with a price.

When the Gramophone Company in 1921 HMV Group was formed, he became its artistic director. After 1925 he focused on artist management.
