Fred Hammond
Fred Hammond ( born 1961 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American gospel and Christian music singer.
With 12 years Hammond sang in the church choir and in the early 1980s, he was a singer and bassist member of the Winans. He then joined Commissioned, where he not only vocally, but also as a producer and songwriter made his name. Therefore, he launched a successful solo career in 1991. His albums regularly achieve top rankings in the gospel and Contemporary Christian charts. With Pages of Life - Chapters 1 & 2 in 1998 he had his first number-one album in the Gospel Albums chart, which also came in the Billboard 200. It was awarded double platinum and remains his most successful album. For Free to Worship, he was awarded the 2008 Grammy for Best Contemporary R & B Gospel Album.
