Fred Schaub

Fred Schaub (born 28 August 1960, † 22 April 2003) was a German football player.

Schaub came in 1976 by SV Neuhof to Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1978/79 season was Schaub as a center forward of the A- team regular junior national team of the DFB. On January 13, 1979 Schaub made ​​his debut in the Bundesliga team of Frankfurt until the end of the season he came up with ten inserts and scored two goals. The following season he scored just six appearances in the Bundesliga. In the UEFA Cup final in 1980, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach were compared. The Mönchengladbach had won the first leg 3-2 in the return match in Frankfurt Fred Schaub came on in the 77th minute for Norbert Nachtweih and scored in the 81st minute the only goal in the game. By the away goals rule, the Frankfurt won the UEFA Cup.

Despite his image as a Cup hero himself Schaub could not prevail as key players in the next season, after 21 league games and three goals, he moved during the 1980/81 season for SpVgg Fürth in the 2nd Bundesliga. There he came in two and a half years to 85 second division games in which he scored 36 hits. After this successful time Schaub tried in the 1983/84 season once again the breakthrough in the Bundesliga, but after only five games for Borussia Dortmund, he returned to the 2nd league and rushed for Hannover 96 in the 1984/85 season succeeded the Hanoverians the rise and Schaub made ​​in the 1985/86 season the Erstligasturm the Hanoverian together with Siegfried Reich and Michael Gue. Schaub scored nine goals in 31 games, Rich and Gue get eight hits. Nevertheless, Hannover dismounted and Schaub moved to SC Freiburg, who also played in the second league. There Schaub stayed for two years before starting players with 67 hits moved to Austria after 58 first division with 13 goals and 208 second-division games. There he played for FC Admira / Wacker, VfB Mödling, Favoritner AC and USC Wampersdorf and remained even after the retirement in Austria.

Schaub was youth coach at VfB Mödling when he died in a car accident on the A7 near Fulda on 22 April 2003. His 8- year-old son Louis survived the attack. Another son is Fabian Schaub, who plays for Buchonia Flieden in Hesse Football.
