Fred Wampler (Indiana)

Fred Wampler (* October 15, 1909 in Carrier Mills, Saline County, Illinois, † June 8, 1999 in Mason, Ohio ) was an American politician. Between 1959 and 1961 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Fred Wampler studied until 1940 at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. During the Second World War, he served 1944-1946 in the U.S. Navy. From 1950 to 1954, including during the Korean War, he was again active in these weapons. Until 1960 he was a member of the reserve. Wampler otherwise worked as a teacher and broadcaster. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1958 he was in the sixth electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Cecil M. Harden on January 3, 1959. Since he has not been confirmed in 1960, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1961.

In the years 1961 and 1962 Wampler worked for the Indiana - Illinois Wabash Valley Interstate Commission. In 1962, he competed unsuccessfully to return to Congress. After that, he was from 1963 to 1970 worked as regional coordinator in the field of the Ministry of the Interior. After that, he was employed 1971-1976 with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Transport of the State of Ohio. Fred Wampler died on 8 June 1999 at the age of 89 years in Mason.
