Freddie Pitcher

Frederick William Pitcher ( born February 5, 1967) is a politician nauruischer. In November 2011, he spent six days President of Nauru. Since December 2007 he was Finance Minister of Nauru.

Life

His father's ancestors came from Australia, Pitchers mother, however, is born Nauruerin; he grew up in Nauru and completed basic training. The high school completion and further training he received in Sydney, where he studied in the early 1990s at Macquarie University Economic Sociology. Pitcher then worked two years for the Asian Development Bank in Manila ( Philippines) and Japan. From the year 2000 he was a deputy to the Nauruan UN Ambassador Vinci Clodumar in New York.

In the parliamentary elections on 23 October 2004 Pitcher was elected to the Nauruan Parliament and appointed by President Ludwig Scotty as Minister of Island Development and Industry. On November 10, 2007, he met with Health Minister Kieren Keke and Minister of Justice Roland Kun back after a falling out with Foreign Secretary David Adeang. In 2007, when President Scotty from Marcus Stephen was ousted by no-confidence vote on December 19, Stephen appointed him to the financial and economic ministers. After Stephen had resigned on 10 August 2011, Pitcher was elected his successor. However, he was voted out already on 15 November.
