Freddy Heineken

Alfred Henry ( Freddy ) Heineken, called Freddy Heineken, (* November 4, 1923 in Amsterdam, † January 3, 2002 in Noordwijk ) was a Dutch businessman and brewer.

Life

The strict Calvinist Heineken was educated scion of the eponymous Dutch brewery family. After completing his schooling at the Gymnasium at Kennemer Lyceum, he began his career in 1942 in his great-grandfather Gerard Adriaan Heineken operating Heineken and his father Henry Heineken.

He then held various positions there. Heineken worked intensively advertising. He was involved with the creation of the Group's current brand identity today with a red star and green color. From 1971 to 1989 he was CEO at Heineken. Under his leadership, the company became one of the world's leading beer suppliers. After his time, he was Executive until 1995 Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Heineken was married to Lucille Cummins and had a daughter Charlene Heineken.

Abduction

On November 9, 1983 Heineken was kidnapped by Cor van Hout. After three weeks the police him and his equally imprisoned driver was able to free. However, Heineken kidnappers could extort a ransom of the equivalent of nearly 35 million florins. After the arrest of the kidnappers, only half of the extorted money could be traced back, the rest remained untraceable. Due to this kidnapping the public shunned the hitherto sociable Heineken.
