Fredensborg Palace

Fredensborg Palace ( Fredensborg Slot) is located in the northern part of the island of Zealand in Denmark.

The castle was built in 1720-1722 by Friedrich IV in the Italian style, and is considered an example of the Nordic Baroque. The architect was Johan Cornelius Krieger. The name Fredensborg ( Peace Palace ) to commemorate the agreement between Denmark and Sweden peace after the end of the Great Northern War. The adjacent park, designed in 1760 by Nicolas- Henri Jardin, extends to the shores of Esromsees.

Fredensborg Palace is usually occupied in the spring and autumn of the Danish royal family; is the family present will be held before the castle daily changing of the guard. While the interiors are open only in July for guided tours, the park is accessible all year round.
