Frederic G. Kenyon

Sir Frederic George Kenyon GBE ( born January 15, 1863 in London, † August 23 1952 in Godstone, Surrey ) was a British classical scholar and paleograph with the specialized field of Papyrology. He was from 1909 to 1930 director of the British Museum, 1917-1921 President of the British Academy.

Kenyon was a connoisseur of ancient languages ​​and focused particularly on the Biblical text criticism. Further research and publication topics were Greek philosophy and history as well as the systematization of old manuscripts. He has published in particular the writing of Aristotle, The Constitution of Athens from several papyrus leaves.

Kenyon's eldest daughter was the British archaeologist Kathleen Kenyon.
