Fredericia [ fʀɛðəʀedsja ] is a city in the Region Syddanmark in Denmark. It is located on the Jutland side of the Little Belt opposite Middelfart. Fredericia is Fredericia center of the homonymous municipality and lies within the triangle formed Trekantområdet. Your name, the city of Frederick III. (Danish Frederik III. ), who had founded it in 1650.

The fortress city is divided into straight streets running. These end directly at the well- preserved ramparts surrounding the city. One of the most important events is the battle at the gates of Fredericia in 1849. This is celebrated with simulated uniforms annually on July 6.

Economy

Economic importance have mainly textile and food industry, after in 2004, the fertilizer industry shifted their production.

Traffic

Fredericia is an important railway junction, where the railway out of Copenhagen is distributed to Aarhus, Esbjerg and South Jutland. Especially for the Danish ferries were constructed trainsets called " rubber noses " to here as fast trains to partner and uncouple. The railway line Fredericia -Flensburg provides the rail service from Germany via Jutland line.

The Port of Fredericia is the largest cargo port in Denmark. It is located along the harbor of Nyborg and Middelfart owned by the corporation Associated Danish Ports ( ADP ), which have formed two communities together.

Twin town in Germany is the city of Herford, North Rhine -Westphalia since 1987. Other sister cities are Kristiansund in Norway, Sweden and Härnösand in Kokkola in Finland. Since 1993, the city of Šiauliai in Lithuania is one of them.

In Fredericia Fredericia Hardcore Festival that takes place every year since 2002.
