Frederick Charles of Stolberg-Gedern

Prince Carl Friedrich of Stolberg- Gedern ( born October 11, 1693 Gedern, † September 28, 1767 ) was a German politician.

Life

He is the son of Count Ludwig Christian of Stolberg and the younger brother of Count Christian Ernst of Stolberg- Wernigerode. After his father's death in 1710 he was awarded by his will dated 23 January 1699 and later by the rule Gedern stolbergischen share of rule Rochefort sixth, by assignment of his brother Christian Ernst another sixth and after the death of Count Heinrich August of Stolberg- schwarza also the sixth.

At the express request of Count Carl Friedrich of Stolberg- Gedern in the presence of the Emperor Charles VII in Frankfurt he purchased from this on February 18, 1742 elevation to the imperial princes, whereby due to objections of the other counts of Stolberg only for himself and his descendants and his sister, the abbess Auguste Marie Herford, the prince diploma was issued.

Friedrich Carl founded the line Stolberg- Stolberg Gedern of the house, which became extinct in the male line in 1804 and fell to the Stolberg- Wernigerode line.

1733 received Stolberg- Gedern the Elephant Order of Christian VI.

Progeny

Frederick Carl married on September 22, 1719 Louise, the daughter of Count Ludwig von Nassau- Saarbrücken force. She died one year before him, on October 28, 1766 From this marriage the following children were born. :

  • Ludwig Christian (* 1720, † 1770), Field sergeant of the Upper Rhenish Circle
  • Gustav Adolf ( * July 6, 1722; † December 5, 1757 ), Major General, fell in the battle of Marktleuthen ∞ Elisabeth Philippine de Hornes (* March 10, 1733; † January 26, 1826 )
  • Christian Carl (* July 14, 1725; † July 21, 1764 ), Imperial General Feldzeugmeister, was designated successor to his father, but died before him
  • Caroline (* 1731, † 1796) ∞ ( 1761) Duke Christian Albrecht of Hohenlohe- Langenburg
