Frederick G. Creed

Frederick George Creed (* 1871 in Mill Village, Queens County ( Nova Scotia ), Canada, † in London, 1957) was a Canadian inventor of telecommunications equipment and was one of the first developers of Small Water Plane Area Twin Hull ( SWATH ). The CCGC Frederick G Creed of the Canadian Hydrographic Office is named in his honor.

In 1878 he moved from Mill Village to Canso in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, where he became in 1885 an employee of the Western Union Telegraph Company. In 1895, he invented a system for the fast transfer of Morse code. After moving to the UK, he founded in 1912 the Creed, Bille & Company Limited, which was later renamed Creed and Company Limited.

In 1938 he presented his idea of ​​SWATH the British navy. Later, he put it in front also of the U.S. Navy, but they were not interested. 1946 was awarded to him for his invention of a British patent.
