Frederick I (archbishop of Cologne)

Friedrich von Schwarzburg (c. 1075; † October 5, 1131 at Castle Wolkenburg ) was from 1100 to 1131 as Frederick I, Archbishop of Cologne.

Life

Frederick was the son of Count Berthold I of Schwarzburg and his wife Richardis of Spanheim Istria.

He studied in Bamberg and France. Before he was raised in 1100 by Emperor Henry IV to the Archbishop of Cologne, he was a canon in Bamberg and Speyer. Also in 1100, began his statement with the construction of the castle Volmarstein.

In 1102, the Archbishop bought from the possession of the Counts of Werl the places Hachenbach ( at Sundern ) and Werl.
