Frederick Louis, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck

Friedrich Ludwig von Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck ( born April 6, 1653 Beck, † March 7, 1728 in Königsberg ) was since 1719 Duke of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck and Field Marshal. He was one of the first winners of the Black Eagle and governor of Prussia.

He was the son of August Philipp Duke of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Beck and his third wife Marie Sibylla von Nassau- Saarbrücken, daughter of Count Wilhelm Ludwig of Nassau- Saarbrücken.

Life

On August 22, 1676 he was Brandenburg Obrist. October 14, 1686 he was promoted to Major General. 1692, he was general of the infantry, 1697 cavalry general and on March 26, 1713 Field Marshal. Since 1698, he was governor of Minden. On January 17 In 1701 he was awarded the Black Eagle and shortly afterwards appointed governor of Prussia and Governor of Königsberg. In 1721 he handed over his regiment as his successor and son, Friedrich Wilhelm.

He was with his regiment in the War of Spanish Succession in Holland. He fought in the 1708 Battle of Oudenaarde and 1709 at the Battle of Malplaquet. He and his unit were at the siege of Lille (also: Rijsel ) ( 1708), Mons ( 1709) and Tournai (also: Donick ) involved.
