Frederick Marx

Frederick Marx is an American editor, film producer and director, and screenwriter.

Life

Marx grew up in Champaign, Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. In 1981, he staged with Dream Documentary a first short documentary, he remained faithful to the documentary field, directed his own projects and has been involved as an editor, producer and screenwriter in other films.

In 1994, he was declared by the Chicago Tribune to the Chicago Tribune Artist of the Year. In 1995, a Guggenheim Fellowship granted him.

For his work as an editor of Hoop Dreams, Marx was nominated in 1995 together with Steve James and William Haugse for an Oscar in the category Best Editing. In addition, she won the Eddie Award from the American Cinema Editors.
