Frederick is a town in Tillman County, Oklahoma in the United States. In the United States Census 2010, the population was 3,940. It is the county seat of Tillman County. The city is dominated by agriculture, mainly wheat, cotton and domestic cattle are grown. Frederick was in the 1990s a driving force in football, as they won the class 3-A State Championship three times (1993, 1994, 1995 ) and once the class 2-A State Championship (1996).

History

Originally, Frederick of two separate cities, Hazel and Gosnell were called and lay side by side. Both cities were established in 1902. Later, when the Blackwell, Enid and Southern railroads came, the two towns merged and called themselves Frederick. The son of a train driver who brought the first passenger train to Frederick gave the city its name.

The city was incorporated in March, 1907, after more than 200 residents had signed a petition. In 1962, after a long delay and a lengthy correspondence, finally came a promised flagpole, which stood as a symbol for the settlement of the conflict between the two Urstädten. It was erected in a park Granitfuß in Pioneer. 1970 came the Wichita falls and Northwestern railroad to Fredericksburg. These tracks were later extended up to Altus, Mangum and to Oklahoma Panhandle area. Currently, this line ends in Altus.

The first settlers families settled in the north- west of the city (The high ground ). The first roads were laid in 1918.
