Frederick Pearson Treadwell

Frederic Pearson Treadwell ( born February 5, 1857 in Portsmouth (New Hampshire), † June 24, 1918 in Zurich ) was a Swiss - American chemist.

Life

Treadwell wuch up as the son of an American merchant ship captain, who sent him to study in Europe. After language studies in Gotha Treadwell studied chemistry from 1875 to 1878 in Heidelberg, was there his doctorate under Robert Bunsen and subsequently worked for him as an assistant to operate.

1881 Treadwell moved to Zurich and worked under Victor Meyer. He was appointed professor in 1884, was particularly active in the field of analytical chemistry and 1893 full professor of analytical chemistry. Treadwell wrote a much-used textbook of analytical chemistry. He obtained in 1905 in Zurich, the Swiss citizenship.
