Frederick Robert St John

Frederick Robert St John KCMG (* March 2, 1831; † February 27, 1923 ) was a British diplomat.

Life

Frederick Robert St John was the fourth son of Selina Charlotte Keatinge and George St John, 3rd Viscount Bolingbroke.

St John was educated at Cheltenham College. In 1855, he joined the Foreign Service. He was Attaché in Florence and 1861 in Stuttgart. 1862 to 1863 he was Secretary of the Embassy in Beijing. From 1868 to 1872 he was at the embassy in Vienna. From 1872 was Frederick Robert St John Secretary in Buenos Aires. From 1877 was Frederick Robert St John Secretary in Rio de Janeiro. From 1879 was Frederick Robert St John embassy secretary in Constantinople Opel.

On 12 February 1881 he was appointed ambassador to Central America. On April 18, 1882, he married Isabella Annie Fitzmaurice. They had three daughters and three sons. Peter Oliver St John (* 1938) is the grandson of this marriage.

1901 Frederick Robert St John was retired and Commander in the Order of St Michael and St George.
