Fredericton Canadiens

The Fredericton Canadiens were a Canadian ice hockey team from Fredericton, New Brunswick, who played in the American Hockey League from 1990 to 1999. The franchise was at this time farm team of the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL, whose logo they used too. Their home games carried the Fredericton Canadiens of the Aitken Centre.

History

In 1990, the Canadiens de Sherbrooke, moved the previous AHL farm team of the Montreal Canadiens, of Sherbrooke, Quebec to Fredericton to play there under the new name. In 1995, the team was finally for the first and last time at the same time in the final of the Calder Cup, the championship of the AHL. The finale the team lost with 0-4, a so-called sweep, against the Albany River Rats. 1999 moved to the Canadiens in Quebec City, where they played until 2002 when Quebec citadels in the AHL and then moved to Hamilton, Ontario. Today, the team plays under the name Hamilton Bulldogs and is still farm team of the Montreal Canadiens.
