Frederikssund Municipality

Frederikssund commune [ fʀɛðəʀegsonʔ ] is a Danish municipality at the Roskilde Fjord on the island of Sjælland in the Capital Region.

Through the municipal reform, the municipalities Jaegerspris, Slangerup and Skibby were incorporated on 1 January 2007. Today's commune thus extends over an area of ​​247.10 km ² and has 44 365 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

The municipality Frederikssund is characterized by the fjord and the glacial moraine. The seat of government is in town Frederikssund.

A Uvelse Sogn lies largely in the field of Hillerød Kommune. Since 1 January 2009 Danmarks includes statistics for the past in the field of community Frederiksund part no more inhabitants from, thus giving zero in the table. The last recorded value from 1 October 2008 was 41 inhabitants of this area.

  • The Church of Jørlunde of 1085 contains the longest organ pipes of all Danish village churches.
  • In the nature reserve Jaegerspris Nordskov between Jaegerspris and Kulhuse is the Kongeegen, Denmark's oldest tree and probably the oldest oak in Europe.

Traffic

The two parts of municipalities on the peninsulas Hornsherred in the east and in the west Nordsjælland are connected by the road bridge Kronprins Frederiks Bro.
