Fredrik Olausson

Fredrik Olausson ( born October 5, 1966 in Dädesjö ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey defender and current coach. During his career, he played 1022 games in the National Hockey League for the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings.

Career

Fredrik Olausson was selected Jets during the NHL Entry Draft in 1985 as a total of 81 players from Winnipeg. His career began in the defender in his native Sweden at Färjestad BK, with whom he first time in 1986 to reach the Swedish championship title. From 1986 to 1993 Olausson played a total of seven years for the Jets in the National Hockey League, before he, along with Winnipeg's seventh- round choice of law in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 in exchange for a third-round vote in the same year on 6 December 1993, the Edmonton was issued Oilers. Then the Swede was for one year with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, two years with the Pittsburgh Penguins and again two seasons in Anaheim under contract.

During the 2000/ 01 season Olausson played for the Swiss first division club SC Bern of the National League A. On 24 May 2001 the defender returned as a free agent in the NHL back and signed with the Detroit Red Wings, with whom he won the Stanley Cup 2002. After the biggest success of his career Olausson signed for the third time with the Mighty Ducks, for which he played another year in North America. In summer 2003 it moved again in the Swedish Elitserien Olausson to HV71, with which he was for the second time the Swedish championship in 2004.

In the season 2006/ 07 Olausson finished his first professional club, Färjestad BK, his career as a hockey player. For the season 2009/10 he was assistant coach of HV71 obliged where he together with Thomas Ljungbergh including the head coach Janne Karlsson assisted in the subsequent period. By the end of the 2012/13 season he was an assistant coach with the HV71.
