Freedom Writers is an American film drama directed by Richard LaGravenese from the year 2007.

Action

Erin Gruwell is set mid-1990s at Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach as an English teacher. She says of her superiors, she became a teacher because she wanted to change the world after the race riots in 1992.

The plot is based on the data published in 1999 book The Freedom Writers Diary: How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them, the really existing Erin Gruwell wrote together with their students.
